The Yellow River, the Yangtze River, and the Lancang River are said to share a single birthplace deep in the highlands, and along their winding paths live three mysterious clans known collectively as the “Water Evils.” The Ding, Jiang, and Yi families are not evil at all, but people gifted with extraordinary abilities—masters of water travel, geomancy, feng shui, and the ancient art of finding hidden treasures buried under earth and river alike.
Yi Sa, the final surviving Water Evil of the Yi clan, makes his living running a secretive “underwater bank” along the Lancang River, a service known only to those who understand the old ways. During an expedition to the legendary “Golden Fortress,” Yi Sa stumbles upon Zong Hang, rescuing him from certain death. Realizing that their fates are intertwined, Yi Sa begins to train Zong Hang in the long-lost craft of the Water Evils.
Joined by Ding Yudie, a sharp-witted Water Evil from the Ding family, the three embark on a journey into the enigmatic Ancestral Golden Fortress—seeking the truth behind old secrets, the mysteries of their ancestors, and a way to survive the dangers that wait beneath the water and the earth.
